In this seminar, we will explore contratiempo from its Cuban son origins through its transformation in the New York mambo scene, showing how music and dance remain inseparably connected.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

You will learn to feel contratiempo as the rhythmic backbone that shaped Cuban son and salsa On2, turning abstract timing into practical movement.

A speaker Robert White takes us on a journey through history: from the streets and dance halls of Cuba where contratiempo was born, to its transformation in New York’s mambo golden era, and its spread across Europe where today’s On2 scene flourishes.

WHY JOIN
