Each year, one instrument takes the spotlight as a reminder of the music that brings us back to the dance floor - together.
Orchestra Series - No. 01: Roots (2025)
For the premiere edition of Salsa Grand, we chose the congas. With their ancestral origins, they reflect our connection to the roots of salsa and its grounding rhythm - the tumbao - giving Salsa Grand an anchor, a strong foundation from which its journey begins.
Orchestra Series - No. 02: Brass Legacy (2026)
For the second edition, our orchestra turns to the trombone. Though not originally planned for the second edition, the passing of salsa legend Willie Colón inspired us to dedicate this chapter in his honor. His unmistakable, rebellious sound reshaped salsa and left a mark on the genre that continues to resonate across generations.
Each instrument is perfect on its own. It has its place and its story to tell. Yet only as part of an orchestra is its true purpose fully revealed.
The same is true for us as dancers - each of us writing our own story in life. However our true potential unfolds in cooperation, within a community, where we contribute our unique stories and our unique talents making our space for cooperation a thriving place for both art and ourselves.
After all, what are we, both instruments and dancers, but the living history of our dance?
